Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 - How Good Is It? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 31 August 2010 09:46
Ericsson have been making mobile phones for about as long as the industry has been around, but it wasn't until the Sony-Ericsson brand was developed that they started to see real success in what has become an incredibly competitive market. Their partnership with the Japanese electronics company has developed a range of popular phones, for users who wanted a phone that was also a great camera and music player. But with the demand for smarter phones, how does the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 fair?

Ericsson have been making mobile phones for about as long as the industry has been around, but it wasn't until the Sony-Ericsson brand was developed that they started to see real success in what has become an incredibly competitive market. Their partnership with the Japanese electronics company has developed a range of popular phones, for users who wanted a phone that was also a great camera and music player. But with the demand for smarter phones, how does the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 fair?

With it's bright 4 inch display, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has one of the largest screens available. This makes normal mobile functions clear and easy to see, but it's when you are surfing the web, watching videos, or using the phone's amazing camera that you begin to appreciate such a large, quality display.

Sony Ericsson have built a reputation on providing phones with great camera technology, and the Xperia X10 is no different. With 8 megapixels, the camera can be used to take photos as well as capture video. The LED flash and simple but effective settings interface mean that whatever it is you want to capture, this phone will give you the kind of impressive results you won't get from other mobiles, and even some digital cameras.

Users can customize their home screens and a range of other features as you would expect, although the mix of Sony Ericsson and Google's Android interface might take a bit of getting used to. The Xperia X10 is another great Sony Ericsson music phone, and the other features that smart phone users demand are all present as well, including GPS and the ability to use the X10 on wireless networks.

The sleek looks of the phone are not spoilt by the necessary buttons, which are tucked out of the way but easily found when needed, and simple enough to use. Sony Ericsson have spent a lot of time and effort looking at how they can make their phones more ergonomic, and the overall shape of the X10 is a product of this research. This makes the phone comfortable to hold, and gives it the looks to compete the other smartphones you can buy.

Sony Ericsson isn't usually a name you associate with a top smartphone. But with one of the biggest displays on the market, the usual high-quality camera and music functions, and a wealth of other smartphone features, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 does give those looking for a new smartphone, something to think about.
